Greetings and
Welcome to the 2008 Training Schedule!
By Patricia Brown,
Brown Environmental, Inc.
The Department of
Environmental Quality (DEQ) has approved the 2008 schedule, which
offers 75 days of training for the coming year. We have done our best
to offer workshops in areas throughout the State in an effort to help
you avoid leaving your systems. There is a nice variety of nine new
one and two-day classes for drinking water and wastewater continuing
education units (CEUs). Your license requires 0.6 CEUs/year for
either a wastewater or drinking water licensure renewal.
We are also
offering all the licensure reviews for the areas of wastewater
treatment, drinking water distribution, collections and land
application of wastewater. They move around the state, so be sure and
sign up when we are in your area. For those of you in management,
Michael Cherniak is returning for a two-day management session in
Boise. Reviews were excellent in 2006.
Brown
Environmental offers a team of 16 qualified trainers. I take pride in
the fact that our trainers have been a part of our program for many
years now. Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) is offering
8 days for us this year. Jim Phillips and Skip Rand have been very
good resources for this program for several years now. Bob Stuart
from the Hach Co. is returning with six new days throughout the
state. He was well received in 2007.
Our one-day
wastewater courses are $30/day for a one-day and $50 for a two-day
class. The drinking water workshops are still FREE!
Please register by
phone (1-800-543-4358 or locally, 465-5725), fax (208-465-8081) or
e-mail. Our training website is idahooperatortraining.com.
You can register from this site. It also contains useful information
about licensure, training contacts and links to the DEQ and the Idaho
Bureau of Occupational Licenses. We limit class size to 30 students.
Sign up early to ensure you get a seat. See you in class!
